These are a collection of my own little ritual poems. Nothing deep and meaningful, just some rhymes to mark the turning of the wheel.....
The wheel turns to harvest
And the gathering of the corn
Our lands are filled with plenty
Before the winter is reborn.
A time to thank the God and Goddess
For all that they have blessed.
A time to help the hungry
Before the land is put to rest.
Look back across that wheel
Leave your troubles far behind,
Sweep away your doubts and cares
Still your soul and clear your mind.
Welcome in the season
Of the dark and wind and rain -
And remember that the wheel turns
To bring the Spring in once again.
We mourn the deceased and the loss of light
On the day of the dead, on Samhain night.
As the wheel turns and the year ends
We honour our ancestors and departed friends.
The harvests are gathered, the fields put to bed -
We rest and gather strength for the year ahead.
The sun goes to sleep to prepare for rebirth
As the dark half of the year settles on the earth.
Reflect upon your harvests, the seeds you have sown,
The plants you have tended and the crops you have grown.
What made you happy? What brought you here?
And what will you change as we start a new year?
As ever my deities, I honour your guide
And eternal presence at this witch's side.
The wheel turns
The candle burns
The dark gives way to light
The God is born
Behold the dawn
As daytime follows night
Light up your flame
For the Sun God's reign
Begins on Solstice night
Shadows pushed back
Light up the black
And sunshine is in sight
