ANSWER – I think what you have done so far is absolutely spot on. There is no substitute for letting the energy flow through you and going with the moment.
In terms of what you should do – absolutely nothing. It is entirely a matter of choice as to whether or not this is something you wish to pursue. You’ve opened a door, peeped through and experienced a taste of what it is to control energy. You can close that door and walk away or you can choose to experiment a bit and see is spell crafting is something you have an aptitude or an enjoyment for.
If you do choose to work a bit further with this then my advice to you is to get yourself in a good mental place to be responsive to working with magic. Books and websites often talk quite glibly about meditation but the truth is that it really is the best starting point for any practitioner on a magical path (actually that might just be my opinion, I’ve met enough witches to know that any kind of stereotyping is totally redundant, lol). By meditation I simply mean spending some time inside the peace of your own head. I’d suggest you put some time aside every three days or so to sit for twenty minutes, close your eyes and just allow your thoughts and feelings to flow through your mind. Don’t focus on anything specific but don’t try to “blank” your mind either, just let it wander where it wants.
When you feel comfortable with the focus on your inner self, start to incorporate some new elements to your meditation. Have a go at grounding – visualise your negative energies draining from you and being absorbed into the earth below. Then progress to raising energy, visualise a channel between yourself and the earth and draw the healthy vital energies from the earth into your body. Exercises like this will strengthen you and put you in a good place for any magical work you want to do.
From there on it’s up to you whether you want to go further and start casting magic. The meditative exercises will have helped you learn how to control energy and magic is simply the next step of taking that energy and directing it toward a specific purpose.
